Professor A S K Sinha, a distinguished academician, and renowned Chemical Engineer, has been selected for the 13th Distinguished Alumnus Award by Indian Institute of Technology BHU. The award, given in recognition of his unusual and outstanding contributions in the science and practice of chemical engineering, was conferred upon him at a glittering ceremony attended by stalwarts of IIT BHU fraternity and presented by Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Jammu & Kashmir. The function was organized at PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi on December 18, 2021.

Professor Sinha has earned his BTech, MTech and PhD Degrees in Chemical Engineering and Technology from Indian Institute of Technology BHU in the early 1980s. He has had an illustrious more than three decades long career at his alma mater where he made seminal contributions to the development of catalysis science. He has held several important leadership positions at IIT BHU such as Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Chairman, Training and Placement Cell and Dean of Institute’s Academic Affairs.

Currently, at the helm of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Professor Sinha has made a mark for itself. Given its several unique academic programmes and initiatives, the RGIPT has carved out a distinct identity in providing quality education and research in the arena of petroleum science and technology under his dynamic leadership.
