In order to develop a state-of-the-art instrumentation center with high-end instruments, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology has established a dedicated center for all the instrumentation facilities which operate in a centralized fashion under the umbrella of an independent center of the institute, i.e., Central Instrumentation Facilities (CIF).

The CIF not only caters to the research needs of the in-house R&D activities but the services of all the facilities under the umbrella of CIF are also extended to external academic institutions, R&D institutions, and industries throughout the country with reasonable charges. External users consisting of academic institutions, R&D institutions, and industries are charged at extremely reduced rates in comparison with other organizations so as to extend the instrumentation facilities to a wider scientific populace pan India.

The instrumentation facilities are managed, maintained, and run by the trained and expert technical staff of the institute under the guidance of a group of specialized faculties. Presently the Institute’s CIF offers tests under the following major SEVEN categories of R&D to understand the behavior of materials like chemical compounds, nanoparticles, polymers, catalysts and active pharmaceutical ingredients. The specific categories are-

The Institute's CIF has an ambitious plan in terms of collaborative research with the industry so as to make this a high-quality center for research and analyses. Moreover, in line with the flagship programme of the Government of India, Skill India, CIF will also undertake to organize training programmes and workshops for the creation of skilled manpower in the country.
