The Department of Mathematical Sciences acquired the status of a full-fledged department in 2021 to offer programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The department is vigorously engaged to cater to the needs of other departments of the Institute by offering courses in Mathematics and Statistics. The vision of the department is to create and maintain a culture of excellence in teaching and research by imparting comprehensive learning supported by opportunities to demonstrate it. The Department stands firm on its belief of delivering excellence across the domain of teaching and research. By virtue of collective efforts of all the faculty members, the department intends to flourish as one of the most prestigious departments and thereby attract budding talent in the field of Mathematics and Statistics. Because of multidisciplinary research undertaken at the department, it contributes illustriously to the sheer brilliance of RGIPT.

The very foundation of the department is based on envisioning innovation in different core and emerging areas of Mathematics and Statistics. This is illustrated by the Doctoral Program that the department has been running for the past several years and has contributed significantly to the field. The various accolades received by faculty members and research scholars stand as a testimony to the sincere and high quality research and teaching conducted at the department.

Keeping in mind the vision of delivering education par excellence, the department has expanded itself to include Bachelor’s program in Mathematics and Computing which is one of the most sought-after courses, from academic year 2021-2022. The idea is to enable the students to master problems practically, especially in the industrial scenario by inculcating the skills of computation, mathematical/statistical modeling and simulation.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences welcomes potential students, faculty, collaborators, sponsors and well-wishers to enlist with us.
