Petroleum Engineering comes under the sphere of Oil and Gas Industry. It comprises subjects such as Reservoir, Drilling, Production, Well Testing, Well Completion, Well logging, Geology, Transportation, Petroleum Refining, HSE and Petroleum management.

The branch was established in 2017 at RGIPT Sivasagar Campus. It is the first of its kind in Assam to offer Diploma in Petroleum Engineering. It shall provide manpower with the skills for the petroleum industry. The branch has highly skilled faculties having qualifications and experience from reputed organisations at all India level.

Having the RGIPT Sivasagar Campus location at the oil rich belt of North-East India, the students gain exposure to different field aspects of petroleum industry with support of Oil India Limited (OIL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and various research and training institutes. It also organises various training programmes, workshops, seminars etc for its students.
