Electronics Engineering


The department offers four-year Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) programme (comprising of eight semesters). There are three specialization verticals of the ECE department: Communication Systems, Microelectronics, and Digital techniques & Instrumentation for B. Tech course. Based on the chosen electives, specialization of the UG students will be decided. The B. Tech program aims to provide strong theoretical and practical concepts with the design aspects of ECE. The curriculum covers all areas of ECE including above verticals. The curriculum of B. Tech programme comprises of core courses, department elective courses, institute electives, seminar, experiments in laboratory, projects etc. The programme offers sufficient flexibility so that the students can undertake various elective courses that provide exposure in various disciplines of ECE.

Laboratory courses are developed such that it imparts design knowledge in the students. It is also aimed to include project work in every laboratory course to cultivate problem identifying and solving nature in the students. Project work in seventh and eighth semesters are aimed at providing opportunities to students and guiding them to design new systems for real applications. We are in the process to procure some of the world class instruments for laboratories to make students industry ready.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme is a flagship programme of the department's research. All PhD scholars contribute in a significant way to the research activities in individual/interdisciplinary areas, including Institute’s vision to excel in the energy sector. Students after graduating with a PhD degree from ECE department are expected to play leadership roles in research and development in various disciplines of EE either in industry or in academic institutes.
