The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Jais, Amethi has been established as an Institution of National Importance through an act of Parliament in 2007 under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India. The Institute offers programmes at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral levels from Jais, Amethi main campus. The Institute has established two centres in Assam and Karnataka, namely- Assam Energy Institute (AEI), Sivasagar, and Energy Institute, Bengaluru (EIB).

Currently, the Institute offers B Tech in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Mechanical Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering disciplines.

Further to that Institute offers M Tech in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Renewable Energy, and Electric Vehicle Technology and MBA in HR, Finance, Marketing, Organizational Behavior, and Energy Management, and MBA in Data Analytics.

The Institute invites applications for the following contractual positions from experienced candidates having good industry connections and motivation to serve the HEIs:

1. Post: Head- Training & Placements (01)

Nature of Appointment: On Contract

Place of Posting: Energy Institute, Bengaluru


Essential Qualification:

  1. Master's degree in any discipline. Candidates having MBA degree shall be preferred.
  2. More than 15 years of experience in managing students’ placements at any Technical and Management Higher Education Institutions. Out of the 15 years, 5 years of experience should be as Training & Placements Officer. Candidates having relevant experience with NIRF ranked Technical/ Management Higher Education Institutions shall be preferred.
  3. Strong industry connections with key industry players, recruiters, and consulting firms.
  4. Excellent Communication & Interpersonal Skills.
  5. Proficiency in Computer applications and MIS Tools.

Salary: Negotiable. Other perks as per the Institute’s rules.

Age Limit: Preferably around 50 years. In the case of deserving candidates, the upper age limit can be relaxed.


Job Summary:

Head- Training & Placements is a senior-level position to manage placement activities of B Tech, M Tech, and MBA students. The incumbent shall be responsible to ensures the students are well-prepared and placed in the job market.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Developing strong relationships with domestic and international employers, recruitment agencies, and industry partners for students’ placements.
  2. Develop and implement training and placement strategies that align with the institution’s vision and industry trends.
  3. Organize and coordinate industry interface programs such as workshops, seminars, and guest lectures to bridge the academia and industry gap.
  4. Design and oversee career development programs, including soft skills, technical skills, communication, leadership, and interview preparation.
  5. Conduct pre-placement training sessions to improve students' employability.
  6. Work with faculty to incorporate industry-relevant content into the curriculum and suggest areas for skill development.
  7. Manage the entire placement process, registration of students to securing job offers.
  8. Coordinate with companies to organize recruitment drives, interviews, and internships.
  9. Facilitate internships and other industry exposure opportunities for students.
  10. Maintain and update records of students' placements, including job profiles, companies, and salary details.
  11. Any other task as assigned for better academic-industry relationship building.

2. Post: Training & Placements Officer (01)

Nature of Appointment: On Contract. Other perks as per the Institute’s rules.

Place of Posting: Energy Institute, Bengaluru


Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Master's degree in any discipline. Candidates having MBA degree shall be preferred.
  2. More than 10 years of experience in managing students’ placements, at any Technical and Management Higher Education Institutions. Out of the 10 years, 3-4 years of experience should be as an Assistant/Deputy Training & Placements Officer. Candidates having relevant experience with NIRF ranked Technical/ Management Higher Education Institutions shall be preferred.
  3. Strong industry connections with key industry players, recruiters, and consulting firms.
  4. Excellent Communication & Interpersonal Skills.
  5. Proficiency in Computer applications and MIS Tools.
