Dr Shivanshu Shrivastava received the B.Engg. degree from the Shri Shankaracharya College of Engineering and Technology, Bhilai, India, in 2010, and the Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, India, in 2017, both in Electronics and Communication Engineering. From 2017 to 2018, he was with the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, as the Project Investigator of the Science and Engineering Research Board Project titled “Designing Energy Efficient Hybrid RF/VLC-Based CRANs for 5G.” From 2019 to 2021, he was with the College of Electronics and Information Engineering, Shenzhen University, Shenzhen, China, as a Postdoctoral Researcher. Since 2021, he has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics Engineering, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Amethi, India. His research interests include applications of AI and deep learning in visible light communications, cognitive radios, and wireless communications, general wireless communication systems, specifically on their throughput maximization and security aspects.
At RGIPT, Dr. Shrivastava has established a research group, “AI Applications in Communication Engineering”. Several BTP, DIC, and PhD students work in this group. The first PhD student has already submitted her PhD thesis. In 2024, Dr. Shrivastava authored a book entitled “Cognitive Radios: Security Threats and Defense Mechanisms” (Eliva publishers). His next book “AI for Communication Engineering” is currently in the process of publication. He has so far published his research in 14 SCI journal papers, 11 conference papers, and a book chapter. He frequently visits around the country and the globe for various conference presentations, and in 2024, he received SERB-International Travel Support (ITS) for travelling to China. To spread awareness and education about intellectual property rights, he co-coordinated a one-day workshop “Intellectual Property Rights” funded by CST – UP in our institute on 9th March 2024. He further guided a team of UG students to develop an application Jal Rakshak for preventing water pollution. This work reached the final round of Smart India Hackathon (SIH)-2024 in Bhilai, CG, sponsored by the Ministry of Education.
Dr. Shrivastava has consistently receive highest teaching feedback ratings from the students within the department. On 5th Sep. 2022, he was felicitated by the Union Bank of India based his feedback score. He has taught wide range of courses in different domains, like Signals and Systems (Communication domain), Stochastic Processes (Mathematics domain), Electromagnetic Fields and Transmission Lines (Microwave domain), Digital Communications (Communication domain), Analog Communications (Communication domain), Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (Core Electrical Engg.), and Fundamentals of Electronics Engineering (Core Electronics Engg.). He has also designed and taught PG level courses on the state-of-the-art industry requirements, such as Adavanced Stochastic Processes in Engineering and Advances in Mobile Communication, and have been actively involved in teaching several laboratory courses.
Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Shrivastava serves the institute in various administrative roles, such as an ex-officio member, institute senate for over last 2 years, Warden of the boys’ hostel for the last 2.5 years, Convener DPGC EEE for the last 1 year, Member secretary department purchase committee (DPC) (1st Feb 2022-30th Sep. 2023) and member, DPC from 1st Oct 2023 – till date.
