Dr Amey Nitin Agharkar earned his PhD and M Tech (Research) in Energy Research from the Interdisciplinary Centre for Energy Research (ICER), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, as a recipient of the prestigious Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF). He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at RGIPT, Jais, prior to this, he worked as a Research Associate at IISc Bangalore. He holds a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat. He has taught as a Teaching Assistant for the NPTEL course "Advanced Measurement Techniques in Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer" at IISc, and served as an Instructor teaching "Engineering Mathematics" and "Engineering Thermodynamics" at Ramaiah Polytechnic College, Bengaluru. His research interests span Microscale Fluid Dynamics, Droplet Evaporation Kinetics, Interfacial Phenomena, Airborne Pathogen Transmission and Pathogenesis, BSL-3 Bio-Fluid Mechanics, Microfluidics, and Machine Learning in Point-of-Care Diagnostics. He actively presented his research at major international conferences including the American Physical Society Division of Fluid Dynamics (APS DFD) in the USA, MicroTAS in Poland, and NISE in Spain. Dr. Agharkar has published several high-impact peer-reviewed research articles in journals such as International Journal of Multiphase Flow (IJMF), Physics of Fluids, and Communications Biology, and filed an Indian patent. He has earned numerous recognitions, including selection as a Pathbreaker Youth Icon by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in 2025, winning the Best Poster Award at the Springer Workshop at IISc in 2024, and receiving the Highlighted Poster distinction at the PMRF National Annual Symposium at IIT Madras in 2023. Dr Agharkar has also served in prominent leadership roles, including General Secretary of Prasthutha and EntIISc (Entrepreneurship Cell) at IISc Bangalore.
