A strong proponent of Swami Vivekanand's philosophy, Professor Sinha received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University. Later, specializing in Chemical Reaction Engineering, he obtained his M Tech and Ph D degrees both from the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University.
Starting the career as a faculty member at an early age in his own alma mater, Professor Sinha rose to become the Professor and Head of Chemical Engineering Department in the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University. Before joining Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology as its third Director, he has been serving as a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University. He is responsible for reshaping this Department into a model centre for quality engineering education and research centre through several innovations including raising the quality faculty and by creating state-of-the-art laboratories. He has also served as the Dean of Academic Affairs at the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University from 2017 to June 2019, besides many other important assignments.
He has a perspective developmental vision plan for the overall growth of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology and is now bringing many important academic reforms in the campus.
Member of many academic and technical societies, his areas of research are diversified. Centering on Chemical Reaction Engineering and Heterogeneous Catalysis, he has significantly contributed in the areas such as Photo-catalysis for Water Splitting and Pollution Control; Conversion of Methanol to Hydrocarbons; Heterogeneous Process for Biodiesel Production; Catalytic Cracking of Methane; Production, Storage and Uses of Hydrogen; Nano-materials along with Functionalization of Carbon Nanotubes. He has also been serving on several governing bodies, advisory boards and committees of several governmental organizations.
Apart from his interest in the application of chemical reaction engineering concepts in the physics and chemistry of materials, Professor Sinha's mission is to bring out a paradigm shift in society through science and engineering concepts.
