Dr Malaya Kumar Sahoo completed his doctorate in chemistry at Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2020. From 2020 to 2021, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at the DST-Solar Energy Harnessing Centre (DSEHC), Indian Institute of Technology Madras. In 2021, he was awarded a Brain Pool fellowship funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea and subsequently moved to Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea as a Post-doctoral fellow. In 2023, he moved to the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, where he started to work as Research Associate in the Department of Chemical Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Stuart Holmes. In this capacity, he has been actively engaged in various projects, with a focus on the application of 2D materials to improve the efficiency of fuel cells.
