Dr Sabyasachi Pramanik is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Basic Sciences Department (Chemistry) at Assam Energy Institute (AEI), Sivasagar (center of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology).
Dr Pramanik began his academic journey with a Master of Science (MSc) in Chemistry, followed by a Doctorate (PhD) in Chemistry from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. His academic and research training at IIT Guwahati laid a strong foundation in the field of nanomaterials and advanced materials chemistry. Prior to joining AEI, he held the position of Assistant Professor (temporary) in the Department of Chemistry at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Sikkim, where he contributed to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
Dr Pramanik's research interests lie at the interface of nanoscience and material chemistry. His primary focus is on the post-synthetic surface modification of nanoparticles and quantum dots, aiming to precisely tune their optical properties to suit diverse functional applications. His work explores the use of these engineered nanomaterials in optoelectronic devices, as well as in biological systems, such as biosensing and bioimaging.
Through his ongoing research and academic engagement, Dr Pramanik is committed to advancing the frontiers of functional nanomaterials and promoting innovation in materials-driven technologies for societal benefit.
