1. About the Institution
The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Jais, has been established by the Government of India and is governed by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The Act of Parliament has accorded the Institute the status of an Institution of National Importance. RGIPT is a premier domain- specific academic and research institution which prioritises developing efficient human resources to meet the growing requirements of the Petroleum and Energy Sector. The aspiration is to develop India as a global hub for qualified professionals for the entire Petroleum and Energy Sector.
The Institute is authorised by an Act of Parliament to award degrees leading to B.Tech., M.Tech., Ph.D., MBA, and diplomas, as well as certificates. The active association of all major energy industries enriches our academic programmes. The Institute is also affiliated with leading national and international institutions, universities, and research laboratories in the energy and petroleum sectors worldwide. Presently, the Institute offers four-year B.Tech Degree Programmes, two-year Master of Technology Programmes, Three-Year Diploma Programmes, and two-year MBA Programmes. All the academic units offer Ph.D. programmes.
The Institute has a Department of Management Studies comprising faculty members from diverse areas, including energy, accounting, economics, finance, marketing, human resources, and business development, among others. Currently, the Department offers two-year MBA Programmes leading to an MBA Degree. The MBA program is designed to facilitate students' understanding, development, integration, and application of knowledge in both core and specialised areas of management, including their concepts and practices in the field of management and the energy domain.
2. About the BBA Programme at RGIPT, Bengaluru Campus
The RGIPT, Bengaluru Campus established to advance education and research in the field of energy science and technology. Located in Hosakote, Bengaluru, the campus offers specialised M.Tech and Ph.D. programs in areas such as renewable energy, electric vehicle technology, energy systems, and energy materials. With state-of-the-art research laboratories, including those focused on smart grid, battery, and solar PV technologies, the campus is designed to foster innovation in clean and sustainable energy solutions. Its strategic location in Bengaluru—India’s tech and innovation hub—enables strong industry- academia collaboration, access to start-up ecosystems, and exposure to real-world energy challenges. Backed by RGIPT’s legacy and national importance, Bengaluru Campus is rapidly emerging as a centre of excellence for future-focused energy education and research.
RGIPT has built a strong foundation in engineering, science, and management at the postgraduate level. Introducing a BBA program strategically diversifies its academic portfolio and strengthens its position as a multidisciplinary institution, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages holistic and flexible undergraduate education. The BBA is one of the most popular undergraduate programs globally due to its versatility. Additionally, offering a BBA program at RGIPT, Bengaluru Campus is not merely an academic expansion; it is a strategic initiative aligned with national priorities, the institution's vision, and global trends. It will help produce future-ready, ethically grounded business professionals who are equipped to lead in both traditional and emerging sectors.
The three-year BBA programme is designed for students who have completed Class XII and aim to pursue a career in Business Management. It is a comprehensive management programme that combines courses in management studies from various business-related fields. The programme aims to mould outstanding young minds into managers and leaders.
The programme consists of 6 semesters spread over 3 years, with each year having 2 semesters of 6 months. The first year builds a foundation, and the last two years focus on management. A combination of analytical rigour and wide exposure equips BBA students for leadership roles and positions of responsibility in different sectors. Additionally, BBA students are required to complete an internship at the end of their second year and a project oriented towards industry and the real world in their sixth term. Following a comprehensive review and consultation with academic experts, the BBA curriculum has been designed for the academic year 2026-27.
3. BBA ADMISSION PROCESS
Candidates must satisfy the following criteria to apply for this programme:
3.1. General, NC-OBC and EWS Category
- Minimum 60% in standard X/SSC and standard XII/HSC or equivalent examinations.
3.2. SC, ST and DAP Category
- Minimum 55% in standard X/SSC and standard XII/HSC or equivalent examinations.
3.3. Candidates who are likely to complete Standard XII/HSC or an equivalent qualification by the end of June 2025 can also apply, subject to meeting the minimum eligibility criteria as mentioned in sections 3.1 and 3.2 after the declaration of their XII results. If selected, such candidates will be offered provisional admission to the programme. At the time of registration for the BBA programme, candidates must produce their X and XII standard mark sheets, along with a school- leaving certificate or migration certificate. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the candidate’s admission offer.
The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in X and XII standards would be calculated based on the aggregate marks of the best five subjects that appear in the mark sheet/grade sheet, irrespective of the Board’s regulations. In cases where candidates are awarded letter grades or grade points instead of marks, the conversion of grades to the percentage of marks in the best five subjects will be based on the procedure certified by the Board, which explains the method of conversion used to obtain the certificate.
4. Selection Procedure
4.1. An application form is filled out by the aspirant to assess their proficiency in academics, as well as in co-curricular activities.
- RGIPT conducts an entrance examination to assess the applicant’s attitude, logical reasoning, and proficiency in English and Mathematics.
- Also, a valid IPM Aptitude Test 2025 score (conducted by IIMs) will be considered instead of RGIPT’’s entrance test.
- Admission to the BBA program at RGIPT will also be through the Joint IPM Admission Test (JIPMAT) 2025. The National Testing Agency has been entrusted with conducting the Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT) for admission to the Five- Year Integrated Programme in Management at the Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya and the Indian Institute of Management Jammu.
- A Valid CUET-UG is also acceptable for the BBA programme at RGIPT. The Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET-UG 2025) is a standardised test for admission to undergraduate programs at various central universities in India.
4.2. The eligible applicants will pay a non-refundable registration fee of INR 600 + Rs. 108 (Taxes) for SC/ST/PwD and Female Candidates and INR 1200 + Rs. 216 (Taxes) for all other candidates.
4.3. All eligible applicants will undergo RGIPT’s Aptitude Test, which will assess the candidate's aptitude, logical reasoning, and proficiency in the English language. This test will be conducted online and will last for one hour.

4.4. Shortlisted candidates appear for Personal Interview (PI). The interview panel comprises faculty from RGIPT. The interview assesses the students' level of confidence, communication skills, general awareness, persuasion skills, and knowledge.
4.5. The final merit list will be generated based on the composite score of RGIPT’s test, academic records, and personal interviews. The final merit list for the admissions is prepared as per the weightage given below:

4.6. The Institute will tentatively announce the merit list, and the offer of admission to the candidate will be based on the merit/rank list and the availability of seats in each category, as per the reservation rules of the Government of India. The final selection of sponsored candidates will be based on the total weighted cumulative score obtained out of a maximum score of 100 (one hundred).

The total number of seats for BBA will be 60, including 10% of the total seats reserved for EWS (Economically Weaker Section) candidates. The offer of admission to the candidate will be made strictly based on merit/rank list and the availability of seats in each category (General, SC, ST, NC-OBC, EWS, and DAP) as per the reservation rules of the Government of India.

10. Hostel Allocation
RGIPT offers a full-time residential BBA programme. Therefore, the Institute provides hostel rooms to the students on a sharing basis.
